Rana seeks relaxation in SDRF norms for providing compensation

JAMMU, Sept 25: Demanding relaxation in the SDRF norms for providing compensation to the people, Deputy Chairman, Legislative Council, Javed Ahmed Rana said that the houses and lands coming under sliding zones should be declared unsafe.
Addressing a press conference, Rana asked the concerned officers to expedite the relief and rehabilitation operations and make the assessment procedures less cumbersome for the victims adding that restoration of basic utilities and road connectivity should be carried out at war footing.
Rana said that the State has suffered colossal losses in all most every sector due to incessant rains and floods and a liberal and extra-ordinary package from the Centre is vital for rehabilitation and reconstruction of infrastructure, public utilities and public property.
He also sought liberal funding and an extra ordinary package from Government of India for relief and rehabilitation of the flood affected people in the State.
He hoped that the State will receive more assistance for rebuilding lives from the Central Government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Rana also requested Chief Minister for providing immediate relief to the people who have suffered losses on account of property, business and agriculture land.
