JAMMU, Sept 25: Director General of Police (DGP) K Rajendra has set an example by getting a case registered against his daughter after she was involved in an accident at Rehari Chungi in which a civilian was killed this morning.
Official sources said the DGP directed the officers to act as per the law and don’t shield anyone involved in the accident after which the cops registered a case against Rajendra’s daughter, Pooja at Pacca Danga police station.
Earlier in the morning, a civilian was killed after being hit by an SX4 vehicle at Rehari Chungi under the jurisdiction of Pacca Danga police station.
Police identified the victim as Inderjeet Padha son of Diwan Chand Padha, a retired employee of Health Department and a resident of Rajpura, Jammu.
An official handout issued by the Zonal Police Headquarters said that a SX4 vehicle bearing registration No. 4112 JK02BA on way from Balwinder Chowk, Rehari Chungi to Sarwal hit the civilian Inderjeet Padha at about 7 am. The vehicle was being driven by Pooja.
It said the injured was immediately shifted to the Government Medical College, Jammu for specialized treatment, where he was declared as brought dead by the doctors.
In this connection, FIR No. 144/2014 under Sections 279 and 304-A RPC has been registered at police station Pacca Danga. Pooja has been arrested, it said, adding that the vehicle has been seized and investigation of the case has been set into motion.
