Medical camps, relief distribution continue for flood victims

JAMMU, Sept 29: Medical camps and relief distribution continued for flood victims in various areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
District Police Doda donated a cheque of Rs 1,35,000 to the  District Chairman Red Cross Society Doda Sham Vinod Meena, DC Doda for flood relief in the State. The cheque was handed over by SSP Doda MS Chouhan. Besides this one day salary of District Police Doda shall be deposited through Police Headquarters J&K Jammu in the relief fund Account of the Chief Minister J&K State.
Acharya Shri Chander College of Medical Sciences and Hospital (ASCOMS) Sidhra setup a medical relief centre at Srinagar in the Yatri Niwas premises of Shree Sanatan Dharam Partap Sabha, Lal Chowk to provide medical aid to the people of flood affected areas in Srinagar. A team of doctors comprising of Dr Syed Uzair Yawar, Dr Wani Zahid Hussain, Dr Suhail Masood, and Dr Mohammad Zaium with paramedical staff and medical supplies was flagged off by DK Batra, Joint Secretary and Dr RP Kudyar, Director Principal ASCOMS Hospital. Dr SS Soodan, Director Medical ASCOMS, Dr Satish K Sharma Medical Superintendent, Dr Tirath Singh Assistant Medical Superintendent, Satinder Verma Matron and other staff members were also present. Dr Aijaz Ahmed Bhat, Dr Farhan Khan, Dr Avinash Koul and Dr Mohammad Naseed will be joining the team at a later stage. This camp with Doctors, paramedical staff and an ambulance will remain functional initially for two weeks and may be extended. Besides functioning at Shree Sanatan Dharam Partap Sabha, Lal Chowk, Srinagar, the mobile health team will also visit the affected areas wherever it is required to provide necessary medical aid to the affected people. Kamal Dhawan of Shree Sanatan Dharam Partap Sabha will act as nodal officer at this centre.
Jammu Province People Forum (JPPF), an amalgam of more than 50 Social, Commercial and other organization today distributed relief material amongst the flood victims of villages Sumb, Saunjana and Nai Basti of Marh Block. MS Katcoh, Working President of JPPF was also present on the occasion.
Ananda Marga Universal Relief Team distributed relief materials including eatables, clothes, tents and medicines among flood victims of Udhampur, Rajouri, Srinagar and Anantnag. Head of the team Deepika was also present during the relief distribution programmes.
Bharatiya Janata Party Kashmir (displaced) president TN Bhat handed over relief material to Secretary, State Election Campaign Committee, BJP, Sat Sharma. The relief material was collected from the inmates of Jagti Township.
A team of social workers led by Kushal Magotra, younger brother of Congress MLC Jugal Kishore Sharma, provided relief items comprising ration, clothes and blankets to more than hundred affected families, whose houses are either completely or partially damaged from Panchayats Galiote and Badota in Block and Tehsil Pancheri. The team also distributed the relief material among more than sixty families in Panchyat Basnote in Moungri Tehsil who have also suffered heavily due to the worst ever natural disaster which struck the State. The persons who donated generously for such a humanitarian cause were Dr Sunil Sharma and his associates in Government Medical College and Hospital, Kuldeep Sharma, Madhu Rani and Chanchla Devi.
