SRINAGAR, Sept 29: A committee constituted on the directions of the Supreme Court will start visiting the most affected areas from tomorrow.
The decision in this regard was taken in a meeting of the committee held here today.
The committee comprising Registrar General of State High Court, Suresh Kumar Sharma as Convener, Mian Qayoom, President High Court Bar Association Srinagar, M K Bhardwaj, president High Court Bar Association Jammu, Sanjay Aggarwal, Director Disaster Management, Ministry of Home Affairsm and Vinod Koul, Secretary Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation was constituted vide Supreme Court order dated September 24, 2014 in a petition titled “Vasundhara Pathak Massodi Versus Union of India” regarding relief for flood victims of Jammu and Kashmir.
The committee took stock of ground position after the devastating floods and chalked out the programme for inspecting the badly affected areas.
It was unanimously decided by the committee to visit from early morning tomorrow the most affected areas particularly Raj Bagh, Jawahar Nagar, Mehzoor Nagar, Shivpora, Indira Colony, Lal Chowk, Bemina and such other areas where floods have created havoc.
The committee will also visit various hospitals and relief camps set up in Srinagar district in the first instance, said a handout issued by Pankaj Kumar Gupta, Deputy Registrar, J&K High Court.
