Sharma demands Rs 5 lakh compensation for fully damaged houses

JAMMU, Oct 4: Former legislator and senior Congress leader Ashok Sharma has demanded compensation of Rs 5 lakh for fully damaged houses due to recent floods and landslides and Rs 2.50 lakh for partially damaged in Kalakote constituency of Rajouri district.
Sharma, who was on 6 day Pad yatra reached out to every flood and landslide affected family in the constituency was today interacted with the  flood sufferers  at Dharamsal, kabu Kote, Panjah, Kalikassi, Katora, Lower Mathani, Chak patti, Chack Mian, Panglar, Odhan, Markanar and Keri.
He urged that the entire amount of financial support be provided to the affected families’ alongwith making available free GIC sheets, timber and other construction material on the site, so that the flood affected people can reconstruct their dwelling units well before the onset of winter season.
Sharma pleaded for providing 6 months free ration and launching a massive drive to provide insurance cover to the houses, agricultural land, standing crops and livestock for which the premium amount needs to be paid by the Government.
Among others present were Chain Singh, Baldev Bajal, Asif Hussain,Tariq Hussain, Rakesh Kumar, Mohd Sadiq, Surjit Kumar, Ashok Kumar, etc.
