JAMMU, Oct 4: BJP activists held a strong protest demonstration against the Flood Control Department at Akhnoor town today.
A large number of BJP workers led by Mandal president and other office bearers assembled at the main chowk and held protest demonstration. They alleged that Chenab river during recent floods, caused massive damage to land and standing crops of the farmers in Akhnoor, Jourian and Khour area but no protection work has been taken up by the Flood control department at the river bank. They said the bund also got breached at two places and even at those points no protection work has been carried out. They demanded that I&FC department should take up restoration and protection work on war footing.
