Heads of various Sabhas, Biradaries highlight issues of border residents

JAMMU, Oct 8: Heads of various Sabhas and Biradaries held 6th consecutive meeting today under the chairmanship of Kamal Singh, president, Jat Kalyan Sabha.
During the meeting, various issues were discussed including implementation of Government Guest Control Act, eradication of social evils such as dowry system, stoppage of distribution of sweet packs, drug abuse and promotion of day time marriage.
The participants condemned the act of targeting civilians through firing and shelling by Pakistan and impressed upon the Government to render immediate relief to the victims.
Highlighting the issues of border residents, they demanded allotment of 5 marla plot or one room set at safer place, 20 per cent reservation in para-military forces/JKP, special recruitment drives for border area, concession for army recruitment for youth of border areas, establishment of Kendriya Vidyalayas and Sub-District Hospitals at all towns of border areas, insurance cover for border inhabitants, their live stock and crops.
The meeting was attended by Vinod Gupta, president Jammu Central Mahajan Sabha, Sudershan Khajuria, vice president Khajuria Biradari, Chander Mohan Gupta, general secretary Central Mahajan Sabha, Nanak Chand Sharma, secretary, Brahman Pratinidhi Sabha, besides many others.
