Udhampur, Oct 8: Indian Air Force celebrated its 82nd anniversary at Air Force station Udhampur with zeal and fervour and organised a series of functions to mark the occasion.
Air Force Station, Udhampur is instrumental in supporting the troops of Northern Command of Army deployed in the forward areas of J&K sector. The base has very promptly and actively participated in providing rescue and relief to civilians during recent floods in the region. The biggest and challenging helicopter and transport-operations carried out in one of the most challenging circumstances -difficult terrain, inclement weather and unprecedented bird activity. But neither the difficulty in operations, nor the rough weather deterred the IAF air warriors from reaching out to people on ground.
The fortnight long celebrations commenced from Sep 27 with a cross country event named, “Run for Fun”. More than 600 air warriors and families including 250 children took part in the event. The occasion was also utilised to create enhanced awareness on aerospace safety.
Today ceremonial oath taking was carried by all ranks of Air Force Station Udhampur. The oath in which the air warriors rededicated themselves to the service of the nation was administered by the Station Commander, Group Captain Manish Singh. Functions were organised in all messes which were attended by all ranks fostering close bonding, camaraderie and team spirit.
