Srinagar, Oct 9: Sikh community in the Valley have said that the last month’s devastating floods have ruined the entire Srinagar city and at this time of crisis the community has decided to work for the relief and rehabilitation of the flood victims.
Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee, Srinagar, has decided that GPC, Akali Dal (Badal), Sikh Student Federation (Mehta), Youth Akali Dal (Kashmir), Sikh intellectuals will work jointly for the relief and rehabilitation under the “Sikh Welfare Organization” at its headquarters Gurdwara Chatti Padshahi, Kathi Darwaza, Srinagar.
A statement of the committee said that the organisation has decided to approach Jathadar Shri Akal Thakat Sahib for creation of special funds for the flood victims.
“The organisation will also coordinate with the civil society of Kashmir for effective rehabilitation, compensation, cleanliness and safety measures in future,” it said.
The committee comprises of its chairman Kuldeep Singh, Manjeet Singh Khalsa, Harjeet Singh, Bikram Singh, Gurmeet Singh, Ravinder Singh, Daljeet Singh, Narinder Singh Khalsa, Ichpal Singh and Manjeet Singh.
