UDHAMPUR, Oct 9: Police today recovered dead bodies of drowned mother and her minor son, who were washed away in the Tawi river after they fell into the flowing water while crossing a rope bridge near Latti town of Udhampur Wednesday.
The dead bodies were recovered this morning about 50 meters downstream from the spot where the duo had slipped into water. It took more than 20 hours to fish out the bodies. The deceased, identified as 27 year old Santosh Kumari, wife of Bittu Ram of village Pachond near Latti and her four year old son Ankush, had slipped into water while crossing a rope bridge yesterday.
Along with the locals, a Police team, led by SHO Dudu, Anil Sharma conducted extensive searches in the water for locating the bodies and success in this regard was made this morning.
After recovery, dead bodies were shifted to PHC Latti for postmortem and thereafter handed over to the family members for last rites.
