Rana, ‘Mission Humanity’ delegation call on Governor

SRINAGAR, Oct 16: Devender Singh Rana, Member, State Legislative Council, called on N.N. Vohra, Governor, here at Raj Bhavan today.
Mr. Rana apprised the Governor about the difficulties being faced by the people on account of cross border firing across the International Border and the Line of Control and about the ongoing efforts of the State Government to mitigate their sufferings.
Mr. Rana requested the Governor, who is also the Chairman of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, to create en-route facilities for Vaishno Devi pilgrims at Kol Kondoli, Nagrota in Jammu. Mr. Rana also urged that the Shrine Board should enhance the present level of procurements of various products produced by local Self Help Groups (SHGs), comprised by members of communities residing in the areas adjoining the Shrine.
“Mission Humanity”, a group of local volunteers led by M. Iqbal Kana, who have been involved in rescue and relief operations during the recent floods in the Valley, also called on Mr. Vohra.
Members of the group briefed the Governor about the rescue and relief work which was carried out by them during and after the floods and conveyed the difficulties faced by them and successfully resolved.
The Governor lauded the commitment and zeal with which this group has been working to arrange rescue, food items, clothing, bedding, medicines etc. and undertaking cleanliness drive in certain flood affected areas. The Governor observed that during this hour of crisis, the local people had bravely risen to the occasion and demonstrated commendable capacity and strength. He complimented all of them.
