Sir,
The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), now IS has made its presence felt in Jammu and Kashmir by waving its flags in some parts of Srinagar. The development is a matter of concern and should be taken serious note of it by the security agencies. The issue can not be dismissed as the work of a disgruntled group.
The IS has earned the dubious distinction of being ruthless, barbaric group who can go to any extent to achieve its nefarious designs. It does not respect the sovereignity of nations nor has love for mankind.
As the group has allegiance to a particular sect, it is likely to cause sectarian strife in the Kashmir valley.
In this connection, the comments made by General Officer Commanding of the army’s 15 Corps Lt Gen Subrata Saha deserve merit. He has rightly said, “There have to be concerted efforts to secure the future of youth… ensure their right to prosperity. Once this is done, they will be diosuaded from the temptations of this propaganda.’’
Yours etc….
