JAMMU, Oct 19: Expressing his total solidarity with refugees cause ,Member Parliament & BJP Prabhari Avinash Rai Khanna today said it is most unfortunate that even after 65 years of independence, a large population of this border State is living with the tag of ‘refugee” who have been deprived of the rights which the other people of the State have been given.
Addressing a joint meeting of BJP State office bearers, senior leaders, district & Morcha Presidents and MLAs, here today, Mr Khanna said BJP is committed to remove this tag once for all.
Taking a dig at the State Government which forwarded rehabilitation package for PoJK refugees just a few days before the announcement of the Assembly elections, Khanna termed this as an election gimmick and not any genuine concern or feeling for these hapless refugees. Leaving out West Pakistani refugees is a cause of concern and it indicates State Government’s parochial and biased approach towards the people of the State. Khanna said that, the State Government should explain why it was unmoved for years together.
He reminded that successive Governments in this border State were run by Congress, NC or PDP, but none of them either deemed it necessary to think of these refugees and now when Narendra Modi Government had assured of resolution of the problems, the sleeping Omar government has awakened and it is trying to win over these voters by showing concern for them.
He also asked the Party activists to gear up their activities in view of the Assembly elections and stressed on booth management.
Jugal Kishore Sharma, while congratulating the Party activists victory in two States, said that it will have impact in Jammu and Kashmir as the Modi wave will sweep here too. He said that in order to achieve the desired mission, the Party activists have to make efforts.
State general secretary (Org.) Ashok Koul, said that polling booth programs need to be taken into hand. He further directed the district presidents to submit lists of Shakti Kendra and BLA-2 to Party headquarters so that effective strategy is formulated in view of the forth coming Assembly elections.
Leader of Lesiglative party Ashok Khajuria, National Executive Member Shamsher Singh Manhas, and State General Secretary Rajiv Jasrotia shared the dais.
