SRINAGAR, Oct 19: Minister for Roads & Buildings Abdul Majid Wani conducted an extensive tour of Devsar Constituency of Kulgam District to take stock of post- flood situation and restoration of damaged infrastructure under Roads & Buildings (R&B) sector. The other day.
During the tour, the Minister visited Ganjipora, Sakloo, Manigam, Pahloo, Kilm Gund, Zoungalpora, Kund, Waltingo, Kraloo Kund and Khushipora.
The Minister interacted with the people at these places and got feed-back about the recent floods and steps taken for restoration of basic services in the flood affected areas. He said that the Government has been taking every possible step for restoration of basic services in the flood affected areas. He said the Government is also providing relief for immediate succour to the affected population besides finding adequate mechanism for their permanent rehabilitation.
Mr. Wani asked the officers for accelerating the pace of restoration works, saying that all restoration works should be completed well before the beginning of winter season, so that people do not face any inconvenience. He also asked them for adopting proactive approach in solving the people’s problems.
At Kilm Gund where the flash flood had washed away about 42 houses, the Minister asked the District Administration for identification of land at safer place for allotting plot for permanent rehabilitation of affectees, besides prepare comprehensive proposal for providing free of cost construction material to them. He also asked the concerned for formation of comprehensive proposal for construction of bunds so that area could be saved from deluge in future.
Inspecting the under execution steel bridge at Kraloo Kund, the Minister asked the executing agency for speed up the pace of work, besides prepare DPR for upgradation of Kraloo Kund- Qazigund road.
Meanwhile, Mr. Wani also visited Sadoora, Anantnag and inspected the bridge over Bringi nallah, to which the flash floods had completely washed away.
Among others, Managing Director, Jammu & Kashmir Projects Construction Corporation P L Bhushan, ADDC Kulgam, other senior officers of district administration, besides former Legislator Mohammad Amin Bhat accompanied the Minister during the tour.
