KATHUA, Oct 19: Minister of State for Fisheries, Cooperatives, Finance and Planning Dr Manohar Lal Sharma today said that the creation of new administrative units would add new dimensions to the development process in sub urban and rural areas.
“The creation of new administrative units is a historic step as it will help to initiate massive development activities for creation of infrastructure in the bad pockets”, he said while addressing a rally at Gurha Kalyal in Billawar today.
Recounting the achievements of the Government, Dr Sharma said that through these administrative units every area would get its due share and help to accelerate development, besides providing people easy access to the Government services, for which they had earlier to travel hundreds of kilometers. He said with the creation of new Sub -Divisions, Tehsils, Niabats the people can easily get their works done.
Dr Sharma appealed people to work unitedly for the cause of development, adding that the people of Billawar constituency have always followed the ethos of brotherhood, amity and tolerance. He said the power in a democratic setup lies with the people and its they who have to preserve the secular fabric of the State.
Meanwhile, Dr Manohar inaugurated the office complex of the Cooperative Department at Rajinder Nagar, Bantalab.
The new complex will house the office of the Registrar Cooperative Societies, J&K, Additional Registrar, Jammu, Joint Registrar Special & Audit and all the Deputy Registrars of Jammu.
Earlier the different offices were operating from different locations in the Jammu city and general public was desperate to have a single cooperative complex for their convenience.
Ramesh Kumar Koul, Secretary to Government Cooperative Department, Basharat Saleem, Registrar Cooperative Societies, J&K Cooperative Housing Corporation Ltd., V. K. Maggu, Anjana Tickoo, Additional Registrar Cooperative Societies, Jammu, Mufti Fariduddin, Joint Registrar & Administrator, Jammu Central Cooperative Bank Ltd., General Manager JAKFED, General Managar SCARD Bank, Managing Director, J&K Housing Corporation, Secretary and staff of J&K Cooperative Union, alongwith the staff of the Cooperative Department and representatives of various Cooperative Societies and Institutions were present on the occasion.
