Pak shelling victim dies, toll reaches 10

JAMMU, Oct 20: Another civilian injured in shelling by Pakistan Rangers in Arnia town on the intervening night of October 5 and 6 in Arnia sector, succumbed to his injuries in the Government Medical College, Jammu today.
He has been identified as Romesh Chander son of Buti Ram, a resident of Arnia town.
Reports said Romesh Chander was seriously injured after a mortar shell fell in his house in Arnia town on the intervening night of October 5 and 6. He was admitted to the GMC Jammu, where his condition remained critical and he succumbed to his injuries this afternoon.
His body will be handed over to his family tomorrow morning after post-mortem.
With the death of Romesh Chand, toll in recent Pakistan shelling and firing has gone up to 10.
Seven civilians have been killed in Arnia sector, two in Samba and one in Mendhar.
Nearly 33,000 border people have deserted their houses and taken shelter in the relief camps. Some of them were visiting their houses during the day to feed cattle and returning to safer areas in the evening.
