RAJOURI, July 22: A police Head Constable was killed while five others were injured when a Scorpio skidded off the road and fell into a gorge near Narian in Nowshera today.
A police spokesman said that mishap took place at around 8.50 am today when the ill-fated vehicle, bearing registration No. JK14/ 1700 was on its way to Rajouri from Jammu. As the vehicle reached near Narian, the driver lost control at a sharp curve and the vehicle landed into nearly 100 ft deep gorge.
While Head Constable Vinod Kumar (No. 476-R), posted at District Police Lines Rajouri, was killed on the spot, five others including driver with serious injuries were removed to Nowshera hospital by the locals.
The injured were identified as driver Mohd Aksar, son of Mohd Aslam of Rajouri, Gaurav Sharma, son of Jyoti Parkash of Nowshera, Sumit Kumar, son of Mohan Lal of Dalogra, Rinku, son of Tej Ram of Rajouri and Rakesh Kumar, son of Shiv Ram of Dalogra village in Rajouri.
While three injured were referred to GMC hospital Jammu, two others were undergoing treatment in SDH, Nowshera. The police has taken cognizance of the matter.
