Better services to people Govt’s prime concern: Sham

AKHNOOR, July 22:  Minister for Health, Horticulture and Floriculture Sham Lal Sharma today called upon the people particularly youth to be equally conscious about their   rights and duties to grow as responsible, disciplined and good citizens.
He stressed that everyone must discharge his duties as a good citizen if he want the country to grow and prosper.
The Minister who was chief guest  at the installation ceremony of Rtn. Pawan Sharma and his team for the Rotary years 2012-13 late last evening at Akhnoor, was addressing the participants.
Mr. Sham said that as the children grow up and take up their chosen careers they would do well to be cognizant of their duties as responsible citizens enjoying vast freedoms. He observed that experience since the attainment of freedom has shown that while ‘all of us are fond of our rights we conveniently forget to discharge our duties as citizen’.
The Minister said that the education is a powerful tool that develops the desired and desirable values in younger generation. He said education was not merely acquisition of knowledge and skill but it must inculcate moral values and a sense to understand the culture and heritage.
Describing public utilities essential ingredient in the development process, Mr. Sham said that the co-relation of various schemes under different department is imperative to redress development needs of the growing population of the towns. He also said that a religious tourism project is in offing to attract tourist in the area. He said a alternative road from right bank of Chenab to Kathaar upto Shiv Khori will be constructed.
Earlier, the Rotary Club President and his team gave away prizes, trophy and certificates to the best performers. The club also gave a tricycle to handicapped women on the occasion.
