National Police Day observed across Jammu Zone

JAMMU, Oct 21: National Police Day popularly known as Police Commemoration Day Parade was observed in Jammu Zone in all 10 Districts where impressive functions were organized by concerned District Police with large scale participation of officers and citizens along with District Police officers/officials.
The main function was conducted at Gulshan Ground Jammu where Rajesh Kumar, IGP Jammu Zone took the salute of the Commemoration Day Parade. All GOs of all Units of Police based at Jammu were present, apart from a large number of senior/retired police officers and citizens.
While speaking on the occasion, Rajesh Kumar paid rich tributes to all those Martyrs who laid down their lives for Unity and Integrity of our nation in different parts of the Country. He read out the list of more than 600 brave martyrs of the country and paid rich tributes to them followed by lying of wreaths at martyrs’ memorial followed by Officers from all Units alongwith senior/retired police officers, citizens and members of martyrs’ families.
A blood donation camp was also inaugurated after the Commemoration Day Parade in which all senior Officers and other volunteers donated the blood.
Moreover, an impressive function was conducted again in the evening where a large number of police/civil families assembled to light candles and paid rich tributes to the martyrs.
Later, IGP Jammu Zone interacted with NOK of martyrs. He paid a patient hearing to the grievances of NOKs of martyrs and assured full support and timely action on the requests submitted by them.
At Ramban, Police Commemoration Day was celebrated today at the DPL. Javed Iqbal Mattoo, SSP Ramban, Rajesh Kumar Commandant IRP 9th Bn, CO, CRPF 84 Bn, and other police officers of District Ramban paid tribute to 576 police personnel from across the country, who laid down their lives, while performing duties.
At Reasi, Police Commemoration Day was observed, during which SSP Reasi Vivek Gupta paid homage to the martyrs of police/central para military forces. The families of all the martyrs were invited to attend the commemoration day parade. The widows of brave soldiers were also given blankets and other relief material.
At Poonch, Police Commemoration Day was observed at DPL. The ceremony was attended by Aijaz Ahmed Jan, MLA Haveli, Jhangir Mir, MLC, DDC Poonch MH Malik, SSP Poonch Jatinder Singh Johar, officers of the district, large number of citizens and family members of martyrs/retired Police personnel and sarpanches of the district. SSP Poonch accompanied by ASP Poonch, DySP DAR, DySP Hqrs along with other officers paid floral tributes to martyr DSPManjeet Singh.
At Vijaypur, Police Commemoration Day was observed at Police Technical Training Institute (PTTI). SSP and Principal PTTI Vijaypur Ranjit Kanwar presided over the function and read over the names of 642 security personnel, who sacrificed their lives while performing duties. An impressive commemoration parade was also held to pay tributes to the martyrs.
AT Udhampur, Police Commemoration Day was observed at CRPF Complex Omara, here today. A guard of honour followed by floral tributes was paid to the valiant and brave police martyrs who laid down their lives for safeguarding the interest of civilians. Command 137 Bn CRPF, Udhampur, Mukesh Kumar, CRPF officers of all ranks and Jawans also paid their floral tributes to the departed souls.
