KATHUA, Oct 22: Minister of State for Fisheries, Cooperatives, Finance and Planning Dr Manohar Lal Sharma laid foundation stone of 15 mtr span bridge over Parae Nallah in Koug, Billawar which will benefit around 15000 people.
The bridge will be completed with an estimated cost of Rs 70 lakh under State Plan.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said the bridge was long pending demand of the locals which have been fulfilled. He said that the road connectivity and bridges are vital for social and economic upgradtion of people especially living in far off and isolated areas.
He said Government has prioritized the road connectivity projects both under State plan as well as under PMGSY. He said that Billawar constituency has undergone unprecedented development projects in this regime of Government.
Later, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma unveiled the statue of Shaheed Balbir Singh, an SPO who laid his life while fighting with militants in year 2004.
Dr Sharma while speaking on the occasion said the brave son of soil has maintained a rich tradition of police by laying down life for the security and integrity of the nation. He said his selfless act will be an inspiration for all of us and to the generations to come.
