Later addressing party meetings at Butwani and Shalbug in Sherpathri area of Ganderbal district today Mir said that the decision of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi to deposit the amount of compensation in the bank account of the affected people has vindicated the stand of their Party on the issue.
He said that his Party from the very beginning has demanded that the Central Government should pay the relief through its agencies to the flood victims as the people of the State have lost all faith in the Coalition Government.
Mir said this way the compensation will reach to the deserving people and there will be no misappropriation in its distribution by State agencies. The appointment of the Committee by Prime Minister to monitor the relief distribution and assess the losses is also a good decision, he added.
He said the grant of tehsil status to Sherpathri and block status to Butwani was due to the constant struggle of the people of the area and PRP which took up the issue at every fora and protested against the Government’s callousness in this regard.
Mir said the coalition was now misleading the people on the issue while the real credit for the announcement of block for Butwani and tehsil for Sherpathri goes to people.
