JAMMU, Oct 26: The Cardiology Department of Government Medical College (GMC), Jammu today organized a medical camp for diagnosis and management of Cardio Vascular Diseases at Suchani, Vijaypur (Aware Shiksha Shishu Kendra). More than 120 patients were examined in the camp and free medicines were distributed and diagnostics test like ECG conducted on them.
The camp was organized under the supervision of Dr Sushil K Sharma, Head Department of Cardiology, GMC Jammu along with a team of doctors comprising Dr Salma, Dr. Mohi Kalsotra, Dr Arjun Singh, Dr Shehbaz, Dr Saqib, Dr Aninti Pal Singh, Dr Vivak M Arya, scientist-cum-social activist and paramedics including Kuldeep Saini.
While examining and treating the patients, Dr Sharma explained the various ailments which people are carrying and later on they act like precursors of serious heart illness. These ailments like uncontrolled and irregularly treated hypertension, uncontrolled diabetes, obesity are serious risk factors and should be controlled at the earliest, he said.
Dr Sharma added that smoking and excessive alcohol intakes are also ominous habits for developing coronary artery diseases and as such one should desist from these habits and adapt a life of moderation. He also stressed for regular walk and physical exercise as part of life.
