Class 12th student washed away in Chenab

RAMBAN, Oct 28: A class 12th student got washed away in river Chenab, in Kahu Bagh area of the district, while washing clothes and her sister was rescued by people.
As per police sources, a class 12th student of Government Higher Secondary School, Ramban namely Mobina (19), daughter of Ghulam Hassan, a resident of Sanasar, at present Kahu Bagh along with her sister Dilshada Bano (16) had gone to wash clothes on the bank of river Chenab in Kahu Bagh.
While washing clothes, the foot of Mobina slipped and she got trapped in the strong currents of river Chenab. Her sister tried to save her, but could not and she also started drowning, but was rescued by the people including women.
On getting information, police team from Ramban police station rushed to the spot and divers were pressed into service to fish out the body of the girl, but her body could not be fished out till late night.
Due to darkness, the operation to fish out the body of Mobina was halted and will resume in the morning.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Ramban police station and investigation started.
