Srinagar, Oct 31: Police today detained several physically challenged persons who were protesting against Government for its failure to provide succor to them.
These persons affected by the last month’s devastating floods accused the State and Central Governments of failing to provide them succor. They  protested on Residency Road but detained by police.
While holding a candle light protest here this afternoon, the agitating persons said their headquarters at Basant Bagh was damaged besides their household goods.
“Both the State and Central Governments have failed to provide any relief to us during and after floods despite our repeated request to them,” said Abdul Rashid Bhat, president JK Handicapped Association.
Bhat said that he wrote letters to the State Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for assistance after floods.
“We appealed to the NGOs too but nothing has happened till now. Our office is also unsafe. No official visited it to assess its condition,” he said.
