AKHNOOR, Oct 31:  Development of all three regions of the State, upliftment of weaker sections of the society, strengthening communal bonds and mutual brotherhood will be the poll plank of Congress party in the current Assembly elections.
This was stated by the Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Sham Lal Sharma while addressing an election gathering at village Dasgal in Akhnoor constituency, here today.
Maintaining that the Congress party has always kept high standards of politics in the country, the Minister said because of its people friendly policies the party served the nation for maximum period since independence. The people have great faith in the deep rooted secular character of the party that always kept the honour of nation and its people atop and safeguarded the motherland after sacrificing its leadership, he said adding that former Prime Ministers Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi sacrificed for the nation and people of the country can never forget their contribution for the development of India. Throwing light on the role of Congress party in the State politics, Mr Sham said the party always advocated for the equality and all round development in all three regions of the State without any discrimination. People can make a comparison with other parties and make up their choice which can prove better for them, he said and  referred to some hallmark decisions taken during the current Coalition regime when Congress party managed due share for Jammu in every field like creating new administrative units, up-gradation of schools, new health institutions, Anganwari centres, colleges, etc.
The party will continue to work for the welfare of the Jammu region and people must strengthen it at the grass root level, Sharma maintained.
Seeking mandate once again in the name of development, Sham asked the people to judge his performance on ground and provide him another chance to fulfill the unfinished projects initiated by him in Akhnoor constituency. He took a dig on the BJP and said that this party cannot form its Government in the State as its hatred agenda has been rejected by the people. He advised the people to make right choice while electing their representative who can deliver as per their expectations.
