LeT module busted in Kashmir

SRINAGAR : Security forces today busted a Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) module in Sopore in north Kashmir with the arrest of four militants.

“Sopore Police and 22 RR (Rashtriya Rifles) busted a LeT module by arresting four of its members. The module was involved in grenade attacks in Sopore,” a police spokesman said.

He said the arrested militants were identified as Tawseef Ahmad Dar, Majid Gulzar, Tawseef Ahmad Dar and Nameez Ahmad Yatoo, all residents of Nowpora area in Sopore.

Two hand grenades were recovered from them, the spokesman said.

He said preliminary investigations revealed the module had lobbed a grenade into a house in Nowpora on October 16.

This is the third LeT module which was busted in the valley during the past week and second in Sopore.

On October 26, police said they have smashed a LeT module by arresting eight members of the outfit in Sopore.

Two more militants of a sleeper cell of the group were arrested from Srinagar yesterday and arms and ammunition, including three AK assault rifles and 14 pistols, recovered from them. (AGENCIES)
