JAMMU, Nov 1: The 139th birth anniversary of “Iron Man of India”, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, was observed as ‘Rashtriya Ekta Divas’ in GGM Science College, Jammu.
On this occasion, NSS Unit of the college organized a seminar on the life and contributions of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in the integration of various principalities and building of nation as a unit. Prof Satinder Singh, Nodal Principal, Jammu Division Colleges, was the chief guest. The speakers threw light on the achievements of Sardar Patel in combining all the splinter States. In his address, Dr Satinder Singh advised the NSS volunteers to learn from the life of Sardar Valabhbhai Patel for his selfless service to the nation.
Sacred Heart College of Education, Paloura today organized a programme today to commemorate the 139th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel as National Unity Day. On the occasion a ‘Run for Unity’ was conducted in the college premises. former Minister, Mula Ram, was the chief guest who while addressing the students highlighted the contribution of Sardar Patel in integrity of the country. Principal, KK Tiwari, administered pledge of unity to the students and staff members.
General Zorawar Singh Memorial Degree College, Reasi, observed “Rashtriya Ekta Divas” to mark the 139th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in the college Campus. The NSS volunteers of the college along with other students and staff took pledge regarding India’s Unity, Safety and Security. Dr Prem Singh (In-charge principal) in his presidential address highlighted the contributions and the role of Sardar Patel in uniting India. Later, the students and staff participated in ‘Run for Unity’ organized in college playground.
On the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel, Rashtriya Ekta Divas was observed in GDC Mendhar. The programme was organized by NSS unit in collaboration with NCC and other departments of the college. The programme was presided over by the college principal, Prof Shabir Hussain Shah, who while addressing impressed upon the students to follow the footsteps of the visionary leader who played a an important role in freedom, unity and prosperity of the Country. In the end, Rashtriya Ekta Pledge was administered to the student in the presence of all the staff members by Prof Mohd Akram.
On the eve of birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, a ‘Run for Unity’ marathon was organized by Gandhi Memorial Higher Secondary School, RS Pura. The marathon was flagged off by chairman of the school, Kewal Krishan along with secretary of the school, Raj Kumari. The marathon started from the school premises and culminated at Kothey Barkat Singh, RS Pura. The student and staff members enthusiastically participated in the marathon. Principal of the school, Gurcharan Singh Bali, while addressing the students shed light on the contributions of Sardar Patel in freeing the country from the shackles of foreign hands.
