Three narco smugglers nabbed

JAMMU, Nov 3: Police today arrested three narcotic smugglers and recovered over one quintal of poppy straw (bhukki) from their possession from Dogra Chowk area, falling under the jurisdiction of Nowabad police station.
As per police reports, police team from Nowabad police station laid a naka near Dogra Chowk and intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK02AF-6121 loaded with apple boxes.
During checking, police found 122 kilograms poppy straw (bhukki), which was concealed in 18 apple boxes and arrested three narcotic smugglers.
The accused have been identified as Ramnik Singh alias Raju, son of Gurbachan Singh of RS Pura, Raj Kumar, son of Bindra Ram of Chak Malangra, Samba and Gurdev Singh alias Kaka, son of Pal Singh of Chak Salarian, Samba.
The accused were carrying the bhukki from Srinagar by concealing the same in apple boxes to distribute among the drug addict youth of RS Pura.
A case under FIR number 163/14 under Section 8/15 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against the accused at Nowabad police station and investigation started.
Police party led by SHO Nowabad police station Inspector Karan Chalotra made the arrests under the supervision of SP North Shiv Kumar Singh Chouhan and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
