Govt to ensure peaceful polling in J-K: Rijiju

NEW DELHI, Nov 5:
Government today said security agencies will ensure peaceful polls in Jammu and Kashmir notwithstanding attempts to disrupt the coming Assembly elections.
“Elections are coming and they (separatists and militants) would try to disrupt the poll process. Our main aim is to ensure peaceful passage of elections,” Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju told reporters here.
He was commenting on situation in Kashmir Valley where normal life was affected today following a call for general strike by separatist groups to protest the killing of two youth allegedly in army firing.
Asked about the killing of two youth in Budgam district, Rijiju said he would not like to comment as it may aggravate the situation.
“I do not want to aggravate the situation by making any statement,” he said.
Asked about media reports which suggested about plans to target PM Narendra Modi by jehadi groups, Rijiju said the Prime Minister was fully secured. (AGENCIES)
