SRINAGAR, Nov 6: Awami Itehad Party president and MLA Langate Engineer Abdul Rashid today said that he was open to join hands with anyone, including Bharatiya Janata Party, for resolving the Kashmir problem.
“I am ready to join hands and support anyone for solving the Kashmir problem,” Rashid told reporters after releasing candidate list of his party for the coming elections.
“Even if it is BJP, RSS, Shiv Sena, Lashkar or Jihad Council, I am ready to join them,” he said, adding a BJP leader met him about forming post poll alliance with his party.
“I have put my view point before the BJP leader regarding Kashmir problem. My stand is clear and it is in the larger interest of the people of India which is peace in this State and I will work for it,” he said.
Critising Chief Minister Omar Abdullah over handling of post flood relief and rehabilitation in Kashmir, he asked him to resign for his failures.
“My humble request to Omar Abdullah is to resign from the chair. His priority would have been immediate relief and rehabilitation to flood hit victims, but the entire focus is on elections now,” he said.
Rashid claimed that ruling National Conference tried their best to defer elections so that any relief from New Delhi would be sold for the elections.
Earlier, Rashid announced AIP list of candidates. He said that Dr Bari Naik will contest from Homshalibugh, Khalil Naik from Wachi, Iqbal Sofi from Pampore, Parvaiz Jamal from Sonawar, and Ajaz Ahmad Sofi from Handwara.
