DDC chairs Saakshar Bharat Programme meet

RAMBAN, Nov 7: District Development Commissioner, Ramban Farooq Shah Bukhari chaired a meeting of Saakshar Bharat Programme. The meeting was organised by the Sr. Project Officer (PO), Jammu and Kashmir Resource Centre University of Kashmir, Fozia Inam Ashai at Ramban.
CPO, Parshtom Kumar, CEO, Mohd. Ashraf Rather, PO J&K RCU Kashmir, Asmat Naqati, AD Planning, ZEOs, Principals and officers of line departments attended the meeting.
DDC discussed all the aspects of the programme with all the participants. He stressed upon the officers to put their sincere efforts to make programme successful in the district. DDC further assured the Sr. PO, J&K RCU Kashmir of full cooperation from the district administration for the noble cause.
PO J&K RCU Kashmir gave the detailed resume of the Saakshar Bharat Programme, a Centrally Sponsored Scheme of Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) Government of India , launched in 2009 by Prime Minister. As per the programme the adults in the age group above 15 year are made literate and are provided with Skill Development Programmes.
Jammu and Kashmir State Resource Centre University of Kashmir is the Agency of Ministry of HRD which provides technical and resource supports to the ongoing literacy programme in the state.
The issues mainly discussed in the meeting were identification of two Blocks, Volunteers, Literacy Centers, Facilitators, Jail Literacy, organizing of meeting with Sarpanches, Village Elders and Religious Heads, Learner assessment etc. for implementation of the programme.
