KHMF alleges discrimination

JAMMU, Nov 7: Kashmiri Hindu Migrant Front (KHMF), an organization of non speaking Kashmiri Hindus who were living in the Valley for hundreds of years today alleged that they are facing discrimination at every sphere of life through the hands of Government.
Talking to reporters here, today, the Front president S L Sehgal and its office bearer R K Sehgal said that they have been deprived of all the benefits which a migrant is entitled after their mass exodus from Valley along with lakhs of other nationalist people.
They said some prominent people among these non speaking Kashmiri Hindus have earned a name and fame as they were holding high positions in Government service, film industry and business but unfortunately the State Government has failed to recognize their services to the Nation and it is not ready to accept them as State subjects of Kashmir as they are denied all the benefits including bifurcation of ration cards, State subject certificates, and inclusion of new born babies etc.
Sehgal said that this is being done despite the fact that the voter lists right from 1954 to 1988 contain the names of these non speaking Kashmiri Hindus and they still possess the licenses of their business establishments as well as receipts of municipality and were also Income Tax payers.
They said there were registered 25,000 voters of non speaking Kashmiri Hindus in Valley and the members of the community also contested elections last time. But it is unfortunate that the community is being treated as second class citizens by the Government and denied the filling of Form 6 on the plea that they are non-State subjects.
Sehgal warned that in case this attitude will not change the community of non speaking Kashmiri Hindus will be forced to launch agitation. They also made an appeal to the Government to look into the matter and dispensate justice to the people of the community.
Om Parkash Sawhni general secretary of the Front, Prof S S Bali and Chander Mohan Kohli were also present in press conference.
