JAMMU, Nov 10: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Y V Sharma, ex-President of Chamber of Commerce and Advocate Baldev Singh against exorbitant air fares being charged by different airlines without any capping by the authorities at the helm of affairs, Division Bench of State High Court comprising Chief Justice M M Kumar and Justice Tashi Rabstan today granted two weeks time to the respondents to file additional affidavits and made it clear that in case of non-compliance of directions adverse inference in accordance with law would be drawn.
The petitioners were seeking direction to respondents to submit the details regarding the rationale behind minimum and maximum air-tariff from a passenger traveling by air through different airlines and make them accountable to be more and transparent vis-à-vis their passengers and also seeking capping the minimum as well as maximum air-fare charged by the different airlines.
