Conference on ‘Emerging Challenges in Nuclear & Many Body Physics’ begins

JAMMU, Nov 10: A two day national conference on topic “Emerging Challenges in Nuclear and Many-Body Physics”, organized by Department of Physics & Electronics in Jammu University, began here today.
JU Vice-Chancellor Prof R D Sharma, who inaugurated the conference, laid down the importance of research in the field of nuclear physics. He appreciated the role of nuclear physicists in the development of alternate sources of energy. He further added that these types of conferences provide a platform for scientists and research scholars to interact with each other and share their knowledge and will also help in exchange of new ideas, sharing of information and presentation of latest research results.
Prof A K Jain from IIT Roorkee, in his keynote address, discussed the challenges in the nuclear physics in the coming time and also apprised the audience about the achievements by scientific community during the last century.
Earlier in his welcome address, Prof Arun Bharti, Convener of the conference, outlined the importance of this event on Nuclear Physics community in particular and general in nation. He explained that the main aim of this event is to bring together theorists and experimentalists for sharing their information and discussion of latest research results. Prof Vivek Gupta, Head of the Physics Department, briefly outlined the achievements of the Physics department and of nuclear theory group in the field of research.
Around 100 delegates from all over the country are participating in the conference.
Besides the delegates, a large number of students and research scholars were present in the function.
Prof S K Khosa, Prof Naresh Padha, Prof Anju Bhasin, Prof B C Sharma, Prof V D Singh, Prof Neelu Rohmetra, Prof Versha Mehta, J K Sharma and others were also present on the occasion.
During the two days conference, scientists will deliver lectures and research scholars would present their research work and interact with the each other’s field of research.
