2 killed, 8 injured in road accidents

JAMMU, Nov 12: Two persons were killed while eight others injured in four separate road accidents in different parts of Jammu region.
According to a police spokesperson, one person of a family was killed while five others injured when the Wagon-R car they were travelling in hit the divider on Jagti Bridge near Nagrota on National Highway.
The mishap occurred at about 3 pm when the family was on its way to Jammu from Katra.
In the mishap all the family members including Ramchander Shastri (70) son of Ram Parsad, a resident of Panch Bhatkar Road, Jammu, his son, Pawnesh Kumar (40), daughter-in-law, Vijayata Sharma (35), Pawnesh’s son, Krish (9), Tripta Sharma (45) wife of Mahesh Chander and her daughter, Aditi Khajuria, received serious injuries.
They were immediately shifted by police to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, for treatment, where doctors declared Ramchander Shastri as brought dead.
A case in this regard has been registered at police station Nagrota and investigation started.
In another mishap this morning at Fruit Mandi, Narwal, one Rakesh Kumar (50) son of Suresh Kumar, a resident of Rajeev Nagar (Narwal) received serious injuries when he was hit by a truck bearing registration No JK02AD-1977. In serious condition, he was shifted to GMCH, where he succumbed to his injuries at about 2 pm.
A case in this regard has been registered at police station Narwal. The police has arrested the accused truck driver identified as Riaz Ahmed son of Ghulam Ahmed of Gulab Bagh (Qazikund) and seized the involved vehicle.
A couple namely Rajkumar son of Babu Ram and his wife, Ratno Devi, resident of Mendhar, received serious injuries when their scooty got slipped near Dharmkhoo. Both are undergoing treatment at GMCH and are stated to be stable. The concerned police has taken cognizance of the matter.
A road accident also took place at Roop Nagar area of city outskirts, when a speedy car hit a pedestrian namely Pratap son of Nand Lal, a resident of Roop Nagar. He was also shifted to GMCH for treatment. The concerned police has taken cognizance of the matter and started investigation.
