SRINAGAR, Nov 13: The Member Legislative Council (MLC), Sheikh Ghulam Rasool, who quit National Conference (NC) last month and joined People’s Democratic Party (PDP), today resigned as MLC.
Sheikh sent his resignation (No. GBL/SGR//MLC 75 dated 13/11/2014) to the Chairman of the Legislative Council and sought his acceptance.
The resignation letter reads: “I have resigned from the primary membership of the National Conference on 30-10-2014 and joined People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on November 5, 2014. I have been appointed by the Governor under Section 50 (6) of Jammu and Kashmir Constitution on the basis of my three decades of service as Public Servant, however, upholding the highest standard of morality and ethics in public life which I have cherished throughout my Public Service, I would like to resign as Member of Legislative Council. I would be grateful if my resignation is accepted forthwith.
“I take this opportunity to express my gratitude for the courtesies shown by your predecessors, yourself and staff of Council Secretariat during my tenure in the council,” the letter further reads.
