JAMMU, Nov 15: A mass bhandara was organized at ancient Bhairav Temple, Chowk Chabutra, here today on the occasion of Kaal Bhairav Asthami.
The bhandara was organized under the supervision of Pandit Rumil Sharma.
Thousand of devotees from all walks of life participated in the bhandara and sought the blessings of the Almighty. On the occasion, the temple was beautifully decorated with flowers and lights while the surroundings of the temple were covered under laser lights.
The whole market was also decorated with lights. Businessmen and traders of the area also decorated their shops and participated in the bhandara. A number of stalls were arranged during bhandara. A special stall for children was also erected where the children enjoyed their favourite chocolates, juices, toffees, jellies and balloons.
Pt Rumil Sharma told the devotees that every year a week-long celebration in the form of Prabhat Pheris followed by a mass bhandara is organized to pay obeisance to Kaal Bhairav. He also told the devotees that Kaal Bhairav is the Rudra form of reincarnation of Bhagwan Shiva who holds great spiritual and religious importance in all prayers held in India.
He also told the devotees that a day prior to bhandara, congregation of different castes (about 52 in number) are held at the temple premises. No pooja is complete without paying obeisance to Kaal Bhairav, who resides in Bhrikuti (eyebrows) of Bhagwan Shiva and is equally important as Bhagwan Ganesha.
