UDHAMMPUR, Nov 15: Independent candidate from Udhampur constituency, Pawan Gupta today assured the people that if elected he will make Udhampur a model constituency and work for its over all development.
Addressing a massive public meeting here today he said Udhampur ahs been constantly neglected during last 12 years as the successive State governments failed to pay attention towards the development of this old and historic town.
He said the people of Udhampur face many hardships as the condition of roads, lanes and drains is bad and the people lack civic amenities.
Addressing poll meeting at Chabutra Bazaar, Gupta said the crumbling infrastructure in the city and  stinking streets and piled up waste have become a common sight. He challenged the sitting MLA to show that even a small stretch of 500 metres of road without pits in Udhampur Constituency.  Further, criticizing the MLA on degrading medical infrastructure in the city, he asked him to justify how and why the ventilators, incubators and endoscopy machines brought into the Udhampur district hospital are rusting  without even being put to use.  He promised to upgrade the healthcare facilities in the city. Further, he announced that road development and solid waste management will be at top of his agenda, when elected.
The supporters of Mr Gupta accused the BJP of betrayal and ignoring the decades old  loyalty of Mr Gupta and his family towards the Party. Terming it a great injustice with Udhampur, they assured full support to Gupta and appealed people to cast their vote in his favour for overall development of the Constituency as he was the real leader of  Udhampur whose family has contributed a lot in Praja Parishad movement and formation of Jan Sangh and BJP in the State.
