Challan produced against accused in fraudulent withdrawal of relief

JAMMU, Nov 18: Crime Branch, Jammu has produced challan against Shadi Lal Pandita and five other members of his family, who are accused of withdrawing migrant relief from Government treasury by managing fictitious Ration Cards.
The challan was produced in case FIR number 3/2012 under Section 420,465,468,471 RPC, Police Station Crime Branch, Jammu before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Jammu.
Besides Shadi Lal Pandita, other accused are his wife Lalita Pandita, brother Mithus Ji Pandita, father Sarvanand and mother Meena Shorie of Tangwari Pattan Baramulla, Kashmir, presently putting up at Jagti Nagrota Jammu.
The case was registered by the Crime Branch on a letter number GAD (Vig)190-Comp/2011, dated 29.12.2011, forwarded by Dy Secretary GAD along with enclosures. During the investigations, it was found that Shadi Lal Pandita son of Sarvanand Pandita of Jagti Nagrota had fraudulently withdrawn an amount of Rs 30 lakh as relief from the Government Treasury after managing fraudulent and fictitious Ration Cards under different migrant relief zones and a total of eight Ration Cards were made by the accused on his name and the names of other family members. The accused had managed to withdraw huge relief by fraudulent means by causing huge loss to the State exchequer and subsequent gains to themselves. The involvement of the accused was established after seizure of fraudulent records, statements of witnesses and FSL reports.
