SRINAGAR : Panic gripped a Shopian village after firing shots were heard near the house of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader Mohammad Yousuf Bhatt late last night.
Official sources said, as people were sleeping, there were firing shots at Memendar village in Shopian near the residence of Mohammad Yosuf Bhat, who is contesting from Shopian seat, going to polls in the fourth phase on December 14.
Panic grippd the village and people came out of their houses. However, no one was injured. Later security forces and police reached the spot and cordoned off the area. However, the suspected gunmen had escaped under the cover of darkness.
