MAHANPUR (Kathua), Nov 21: The 18th Annual Awards of Lala Kanhaiya Shah (Laksh) Educational Trust were presented at a function held in the Government Higher Secondary School, Mahanpur.
Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary IAS, Dy. Commissioner / DDC Kathua was the chief guest. Dr Bharat Bhushan KAS, CEO Lakhanpur – Sarthal Development Authority was the guest of honour and Senior trustee K C Gupta presided.
The chief guest gave away the coveted ‘ Uttam Vidyarthi Award’ to Joint winners, namely Chandan son of Jindal Kumar of St.Annes Convent School Basholi and Umakshi daughter of Naresh Kumar of holy family convent school Nagri Parole for standing 1st in District Kathua (97.4% marks each) in matriculation exam of state board.
Priyanka Bhadwal daughter of Ranjit Singh of Government Higher Secondary School, Mahanpur and Anjali daughter of Ranjit Singh of Government Girls Middle School Mahanpur bagged the Laksh and Achhri Devi merit Scholarships respectively. Sahil Singh won the special cash award being 10 + 2 exam topper in local area schools.
Financial help was extended to deserving primary students. To encourage extra curricular activities the outstanding students were given mementos and certificates. Akshay kumar was honoured for sports, Chakit verma for debate competition, Shahu Shah for Socio- environmental activity and Songat Bhardwaj being all – rounder.
Earlier Dr J L Gupta, Managing trustee welcomed the Dy. Commissioner and other guests and presented a resume of the activities of the trust. Principal Susheel Sharma appreciated the initiative of the Trust towards education promotion in the District.
Besides trustees a galaxy of educationist including K C Badgal Principal GDC and M/S S N Sharma, Adarsh Sharma and others graced the ceremony.
