NEW DELHI, Nov 23:
Without ruling out a possibility of meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif on the sidelines of the upcoming SAARC summit, India today favoured a meaningful dialogue with Islamabad for promoting peaceful and cooperative ties.
Briefing reporters about the Prime Minister’s visit to Nepal for SAARC Summit, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin did not give a direct reply to the questions relating to a possible meeting between the two Prime Ministers.
“Prime Minister’s intention is to have meaningful dialogue with as many of our south Asian colleagues as possible.”This would mean, taking into account all aspects of our relationship. This is a work in progress in terms of scheduling, in terms of how we work out with other leaders, their priorities as well as our intent to have meaningful dialogue,” he added.
Mr Akbaruddin said, “Once we have the schedule ready, certainly, we will share it with you. At this stage, schedule is a work in progress, taking into account the scheduling of various leaders’ priorities and intention to have a meaningful dialogue.” (AGENCIES)
