SRINAGAR, Nov 24: PDP president, Mehbooba Mufti said National Conference as a result of its repeated betrayals of the cause of the people of Jammu and Kashmir would meet its waterloo in this election.
“NC has been misleading the people at the time of elections repeatedly but making compromises and sellouts on the vital economic and political interests of the State. But this time it seems that the party’s game is up and the people have seen through its real character,” she said while addressing various roadside meetings in Noorabad constituency of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
Party leader and candidate for Noorabad constituency, Abdul Majid Padroo was also present on the occasion.
Mehbooba said NC is a spent political force and the people have decided to dump the party permanently in the Assembly elections for its misdeeds and crimes. She said the history is witness to the fact that the party has always played with the sentiment and aspirations of the people and bartered State’s interests for the chair. “The political turmoil which consumed a generation of young people and devastated thousands of families in Kashmir is all because of the NC,” Mehbooba said.
The PDP chief said Omar Abdullah-led Government will go into the history as the worst ever Government the NC has given to Jammu and Kashmir whether in alliance with Congress or BJP. “Omar Abdullah Government has not only failed on the political front but during past six years it has made the people suffer immensely on the governance front as well. Corruption, nepotism and misgovernance has touched new heights in the State engulfing every single institution thereby further alienating the ordinary people with the system,” she said.
Mehbooba said once voted to form the Government PDP will establish farm based industries in Kashmir particularly in Kulgam and Shopian districts to give fillip to the local economy. She said the entire Kulgam district has the huge potential not only in horticulture but also in tourism and its allied activities. “We will harness that potential fully which will generate dignified employment opportunities not only for the local youth but for the youth of the entire State,” she added.
