JAMMU, Nov 24: The displaced persons from Pak occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) held a strong rally at Maheshpura Chowk at Bakshi Nagar here today and paid their homage to those who sacrificed their lives while fighting Pakistani raiders in 1947.
A large number of members of DPs’ families under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir PoJK Refugee Front 1947,1965, 1971 assembled at Neteaji Subash Chander Park, Maheshpura Chowk (Bakshinagar) at 11 am. A large number of women and children also  attended the `Shardanjali programme’. They paid homage to those who laid down their lives while fighting with the Qabalis and regular Pakistani Army forces during 1947 in Mirpur, Kotli, Muzzafrabad, Poonch and other areas of Pak held Jammu and Kashmir.
Several refugee leaders and elderly persons also addressed the gathering while paying tributes and recalled the days when Pakistani raiders attacked PoJK areas. They revealed that about 50,000 men, women and children were killed  by the raiders/ Qabailis whose number was around 90,000. Poonch city remained under seize for more than one month. Mirpur city fell into the raiders on the intervening night of November 24 and 25, 1947.
Muzaffrabad was over run by invaders on October 20 where thousands of men, women and children were killed.  About 500 persons from Chhamb, Deva Batala, Nah and Manawar were killed in 1965 Pak aggression. The displaced persons lost their   homes and moveable and non-moveable property.
They alleged that State Government has always been biased towards the PoJK refugees. The rehabilitation package   sanctioned by the Government of India from time to time, after recommendation of National Human Rights Commission was not implemented by the State. They strongly condemned the  Government for denying package to the refugees.
