JAMMU, Nov 24: A meeting of Provincial Committee of J&K United School Teachers Association(USTA) was held under the chairmanship of Hari Singh provincial president to review the overall scenario prevailing in the School Education Department of the State.
USTA strongly criticized State as well as Central Governmnent for not releasing the grants under Centrally sponsored schemes i.e. SSA, RMSA due to which large numbers of teachers working under such schemes are without salary for 4 to 12 months putting them at the verge of starvation.
The association further condemns in the strongest possible words the unwarranted and unauthorised process of withholding the salaries of repatriated masters who have been adjusted on clear vacancies for no fault of theirs.
USTA demands high level inquiry in transfers and adjustments made during last one year which have educational system dysfunctional. Moreover a large numbers. of teachers engaged in non academic duties which have hampered education of poor students.
Despite of raising all demands at various levels and even observing 24 hour hunger strike in front of Director School Education’s Office Jammu on Oct 21, 2014, educational authorities did not pay any heed towards these burning demands. The meeting appeals the educational authorities to concede the demands at an earliest otherwise USTA will be compelled to announceproposed agitational programme in near future if demands are not met at an earliest.
Others who were present in the meeting were Rajeev kumar, Pardeep Singh,Dr Shashi Pal Singh, Julafkar Ali Malik, Raj Kumar, Surinder Singh, Shanti Saroop Sharma, Roop Lal etc.
