Sir,
Udhampur district is not only endowed with nature’s bounty, but is also culturally rich. The district boasts of heritage wealth which is spread all along its whole expanse. There are old forts, temples and bowlies. But alas, this wealth is in ruins, and may get obliterated with time in case preventive measures are not taken immediately. Every year various private and public agencies celebrate Heritage week to highlight the plight of this wealth.
But one feels dismayed that no result oriented activity has been undertaken in hand to restore bowlies or forts to their pristine glory. Nor these agencies have been effective in roping in any agency to take care of pride possessions. The Heritage week has just become a yearly ritual, and nothing else.
This heritage wealth is identity of our region, and bears testimony to our history and culture. Not only that, it reflect the art and architecture of the period.
This accumulated wealth needs to be protected at any cost.
