PREWA discusses demands

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Nov 26: J&K Prisons Retired Employees Welfare Assocition(PREWA) in its periodic meeting, expressed serious concern that the State Government did not release 10% and 7% DA installment which became due in January and July in favour of State Pensioners and employees, today.
The meeting said that the  State Pensioners and employees are suffering unduly severe financial hardship as the prices of essential goods of daily need are soaring sky high day by day.
Krishan Singh, president, PREWA, in his address was highly critical of callous attitude  adopted by the NC-Congress Coalition Government towards genuine needs and aspirations of State Pensioners and employees because of which resentment is growing against the Government.
The president said that orders for raising pension after 80 years and above by 20 % and above on Central pattern have not so far been issued by the State Government. Enhan-cement of medical allowance from paltry Rs 300 to Rs 1000 is yet another demand which is required to conceded on priority.
