Change is imminent in J&K: Rangil Singh

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Nov 26: Expressing satisfaction over highest turn out in first phase of Assembly elections in 15 Assembly constituencies, spokesman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and former Minister  Rangil Singh today said that people came out in large number to fulfil their urge for change.
“Change is imminent in J&K as it has been reflected in the first phase of elections”, Mr Singh said, in a statement.
He said that NC-Congress coalition headed by Omar Abdullah has failed on all fronts and people want to teach this regime a lesson for its misdeeds and betrayal.
Listing failures of the Omar Abdullah led Government, Rangil Singh said that this regime has made blatant attempts to weaken the anti-graft institutions like State Accountability Commission (SAC) by undermining independent authority of such institutions.
Not only sanctity of anti-graft institution has eroded, NC-Cong  regime has even undermined authority of all democratic and constitutional institutions.  Democratic institutions be it Assembly, District Development Boards (DDBs), Panchayats or Urban Local Bodies have been undermined during the last six years.
Democratic institutions like Urban Local Bodies are base of a democratic system but this regime through its gimmicks and misdeeds, has subverted the democratic character of such institutions. Instead of strengthening these democratic institutions, the present dispensation has been indulged into undemocratic means to undermine the role of elected representatives.
Ridiculing Congress leaders for promising settlement of refugees issues, Rangil Singh said that Congress has been in power during that last six years but nothing has been done so far in this regard. He reiterated demand of one time settlement for the displaced persons of 1947.
