NEW DELHI, Nov 27: A grand cultural show at Pragati Maidan, Lal Chowk Theatre, here as part of the State Day celebrations by Jammu and Kashmir, marked the conclusion of the 34th India International Trade Fair (IITF) which opened on November 14.
Financial Commissioner, Industries and Commerce, Khurshid Ahmad Ganai, was the chief guest on the occasion. He was accompanied by HoDs of various departments of Industries and Commerce, besides Director Information, Mukhtar-ul-Aziz, Director Handicrafts, Tariq Ahmad Ganai, MD, JKI, MD, Handloom Corporation, MD, Handicraft Corporation and others.
The highlight of the event was the cultural show organized by J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages. The event also included Folk Dance performances of the 3 regions of the state, highly appreciated by the audience present in large number there.
IITF event takes place annually and provides one single platform to the manufacturers, traders, exporters and importers.
The State of Jammu and Kashmir had erected 30 stalls in the J&K Pavilion at the Trade Fair to promote its products. The pavilion attracted around 3.5 lakh people during the 14 day event in which almost all the products of the State of Jammu and Kashmir including Handicrafts and Horticultural were put on display and sale. Live demonstration of Arts and Crafts was also organized at the pavilion by the Directorate of Handicrafts.
Sales to the tune of Rs 6 crore were made during the 14 day Trade Fair in J&K Pavilion.
The event was coordinated by Department of Handicrafts.
