BSNL employees stage protest, observe strike

JAMMU, Nov 27: The employees of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), Jammu district, today observed strike and staged mass demonstration in all the BSNL offices in Jammu including Jammu Headquarters, Office of Chief General Manager, BSNL, Bahu Plaza, office of General Manager, Trikuta Nagar and all Sub-divisional headquarters.
The strike was observed under the banner of BSNL Employees Union (BSNLEU) on the one day strike call of Central Headquarters Joint Action Committee, New Delhi, to protest against the non-settlement of long pending demands of the union.
Their demands included payment of PLI, settlement of stagnation in the cadres of RM, Group D, industrial workers, etc and removal of wage disparity between the non-executives who were appointed before January 1, 2007 and on or after January 1, 2007.
Their other demands are removal of hardships in NEPP and in getting compassionate ground appointments, restoration of LTC, leave encashment and medical advances, immediate implementation of E-1 Pay Scale, regular promotion of officiating of JTOs, fresh recruitment of staff in non-executive cadre, regularization of left out TSM and casual labourers, implementation of labour laws, etc.
